These three beautiful photos of T. F. Quinn's Tailor shop are from the collection of Betty, the granddaughter of Annie Seward and Thomas Quinn.  The shop was in Belgrave Street, Kempsey and operated between 1897 and 1937.  Thomas retired at the age of 74!  Annie died just prior to Thomas selling his business.   In the first photo, we see Thomas (in the middle) with 3 of his sons - Charles (second from the left), Francis (second from the right) and Henry (on the right).  Thomas is clearly visible in the other photos.  We're now working to identify the men in the other two photos. Charles, Francis and Henry were also tailors.  Jan, another granddaughter of Annie and Thomas, has this button from Charles Quinn's business.

Less than six months later, on 12 January 1865, Jane married Thomas Seward at the Office of the District Registrar in Port Macquarie. Imagine the difficulty that Jane faced in 1864 with a farm to manage and 5 young children between 2 and 10 years. As was often the case, marriage followed fairly quickly after the death of a partner in the 1800s.  Thomas Seward was born on 3 August 1814 at Moats Hole, Sandwich, Kent to Thomas (a mariner) and Ann Seward. He was baptised on 16 October 1814 at St Mary's Church in Sandwich. Prior to his marriage to Jane, the spelling of Thomas's name is either Seaward or Seeward. Annie Quinn (Seward) from Martyn Killion's collection On 10 Mar 1890, Annie married Thomas Francis Quinn at Kempsey.  The obituaries published at the time of Thomas's death record that he was born in September 1862 in Ireland.  It's thought that his parents were Thomas (Denis) and Bridget Quin who settled in Adelaide after their arrival.  Annie was 22 and Thomas was 27 when they married. Annie and Thomas's six sons and six daughters were born in Kempsey.  Three daughters died as infants - twins, Doris and Ethel, and Neta.  Annie and Thomas were survived by their other nine children.  (Research notes on the birth, marriage and death details of the children ...
